Review: Mechanisms and pathology of protein misfolding and aggregation

In a recent review published in Nature reviews molecular cell biology, Louros et al. aim to consolidate current knowledge explaining why certain proteins misfold and aggregate in non-physiological settings. Specifically, they zoom in on the molecular drivers of protein aggregation and how these modify the structure and, consequently, cellular interactions and toxicity of end-stage amyloid fibrils.
