Giving back
Guiqin (Qin) Wu grew up in a remote rural village in Guizhou, China and felt very fortunate to receive the financial and emotional support that enabled her to obtain her PhD in our laboratory.
She decided that the best way to return the favour was to help other kids who currently find themselves in a similar situation as she was, and started ICARE Guizhou, a non-profit organisation with the mission to improve the education and health of rural students from Guizhou, China.
Qin brought people together in support of this common goal, to make them see that there’s a whole world out there, and that, if they are determined and supported by others, they can achieve anything.
The program of this non-profit organisation includes free-online English courses, personalised gifts for students, as well as fundraising for students who are in special needs.
Have a look at the ICARE Guizhou website to learn more or contribute to their goals.
