Co-translational protein aggregation and ribosome stalling as a broad-spectrum antibacterial mechanism
Drug-resistant bacteria are a global threat. In this study, we uncover how bacteria can be targeted during translation, causing proteins to aggregate as they are being synthesized, ultimately leading to ribosome stalling and cell death. This mechanism represents a promising broad-spectrum antibacterial strategy, with potential implications for tackling antibiotic resistance.
